Give your fourth grader the confidence to succeed on the Indiana ILEARN Grade 4 Math test.
This Smart Stars practice book provides five full-length, standards-aligned practice tests, each with 48 items that mirror the on-screen length and item mix of the real Indiana ILEARN assessment in Mathematics. Every question was written by experienced educators, reviewed for accuracy, and built around the 2023 Indiana Academic Standards for Mathematics at Grade 4.
The ILEARN Math test for Grade 4 is delivered online through Cambium Assessment as an untimed, computer-adaptive test that mixes multiple-choice, technology-enhanced, and open-ended items. In 2025-2026, Indiana also gives shorter ILEARN Checkpoints during the year, but the spring Summative is the test that produces a student’s official result. Each practice test here uses a 48-item structure: 46 scored items plus 2 unscored field-test items: to mirror the true on-screen length and build real test-day endurance. Students are never told which items are field-test items, just as on test day, so every question is worked with full focus.
Grade 4 students may not use a calculator on ILEARN, but they are provided a Mathematics Reference Sheet of measurement conversions. This book follows the same policy: a boxed reference sheet appears on the page right after each test’s cover, and no question requires a calculator.
What’s inside
- Five full-length practice tests of 48 items each, with detailed Answers and Explanations after every test
- Coverage of every Grade 4 math standard across the four ILEARN reporting categories: Number Sense; Computation; Algebraic Thinking and Data Analysis; and Geometry and Measurement
- Practice in every ILEARN item format: multiple choice, multiple select, type-in answers, drag-and-drop ordering, matching, fraction models, graphs, and short written responses
- Every explanation includes a labeled Strategy and Tip so students learn the underlying reasoning, not just the answer
- A combined Quick Answer Key at the back of the book for fast self-grading
- A family letter and a test-taking tips section to help families prepare
- A Grade 4 Mathematics Reference Sheet before each test, matching the official ILEARN policy of no calculator with a reference sheet provided

Why parents and teachers choose Smart Stars
- Educator-authored. Every question is written and reviewed by classroom-experienced educators.
- Mirrors test day. Each practice test matches the official ILEARN format, item mix, and policy (no calculator, with a Mathematics Reference Sheet provided at Grade 4).
- Explanations teach the why. Every Answers and Explanations entry walks through the reasoning step by step, then provides a labeled Strategy and Tip so students learn the move, not just the answer.
- Varied across five tests. Slot positions, contexts, names, and number choices rotate test-to-test, and the tests step up in difficulty so no two feel like the same practice run.
- Field-test items built in. Each practice test includes 2 unscored field-test items that mirror the real field-test load on the live ILEARN, building true test-day endurance.
