Welcome to Smart Stars Prep. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of smartstarsprep.com (the “Site”) and your purchase of our digital products. The Site is operated by Eskey Kiadó és Médiaszolgáltató Kft., a limited liability company registered in Hungary (EU VAT: HU33033332), trading as “Smart Stars Prep” (“we”, “us”, “our”). By using the Site or purchasing our products, you agree to these Terms.
1. What we offer
Smart Stars Prep publishes practice-test workbooks for United States K–12 state standardized assessments. Products are available as printed books sold through Amazon and as digital PDF downloads sold directly through this Site.
2. Digital purchases and our merchant of record
Digital purchases on this Site are processed by Paddle.com. Paddle is the merchant of record for these transactions: Paddle is the legal seller, handles billing, collects and remits applicable sales taxes and VAT, and issues your receipt. Paddle’s checkout terms apply to the payment transaction itself and are presented at checkout. Print editions purchased on Amazon are sold under Amazon’s terms and are not governed by this section.
3. License to digital products
When you purchase a digital PDF, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to download, store, and print the product for use within your own household or, for purchasing educators, within your own classroom. You may not resell, redistribute, share publicly, upload to file-sharing or homework-help services, or use the content to create derivative products for distribution. All content remains the intellectual property of Eskey Kiadó és Médiaszolgáltató Kft.
4. Educational disclaimer
Our products are independent study materials aligned to publicly available state academic standards. They are practice resources, not official test materials. Smart Stars Prep is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any state department of education, testing body, or trademark holder of any assessment name referenced on this Site (assessment names are used solely to identify the exam a book helps students prepare for). We make no guarantee of any particular test score or academic outcome.
5. Refunds
Refunds for digital purchases are governed by our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
6. Acceptable use of the Site
You agree not to misuse the Site, including attempting to gain unauthorized access, scraping content at scale, interfering with the Site’s operation, or using the Site for any unlawful purpose.
7. Accuracy and changes
We work hard to keep product descriptions, standards alignment, and pricing accurate, and we update editions as state standards change. We may correct errors and update Site content, products, and prices at any time. We may also update these Terms; the effective date above reflects the latest version, and continued use of the Site constitutes acceptance of updated Terms.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from your use of the Site or any product is limited to the amount you paid for the product concerned. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, or affects the statutory rights of consumers under EU or applicable local consumer law.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Hungary, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections that apply in your country of residence. Payment transactions processed by Paddle are additionally governed by Paddle’s terms.
