Alabama Practice Tests
Alabama Practice Books and Flashcards
Alabama's State Tests at a Glance
In grades 3 through 8, the ACAP Summative covers English language arts and math every year, plus science in grades 4, 6 and 8. The tests are given online, and paper forms are used only as an accommodation written into a student's IEP or 504 plan. Math and science can be taken in English or Spanish. Each test is split into timed sessions, and a session must be finished on the day it is started. Testing takes place once a year in the spring.

Session 1 includes listening passages, so students wear headphones. The text-dependent writing essay, where students read a passage and write a response using information from it, is scored by trained readers; every other question is scored by computer. In grade 3 the test also reports a separate reading score in support of the Alabama Literacy Act.
