Michigan M-STEP Grade 4 English Practice Tests cover

Built to feel like test day. Written to teach the why behind every answer.

This book gives your fourth grader five full-length practice tests for the Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress (M-STEP) Grade 4 English Language Arts exam: 225 questions in all, written and reviewed by educators and aligned to the Michigan K-12 Standards for English Language Arts.

Every test mirrors what your child will see on M-STEP test day. M-STEP is the exam the Michigan Department of Education gives in Grades 3:7, delivered online as an untimed, computer-adaptive test. It reports four areas (Reading, Writing, Listening, and Research) and each test here follows that shape, with the same formats: multiple choice, multiple select (“select two”), two-part Part A / Part B evidence questions, and one passage-based writing prompt.

About the question count: and why field-test items matter. On the real test, most questions are scored, but a few are unscored field-test items the state is trying out for future years, mixed in so a student cannot tell them apart. Michigan builds five into each Grade 4 ELA form. Each test in this book runs the full 45-question on-screen length so your student builds real test-day endurance, and every question is fully answered in the back.
