Wyoming's State Tests at a Glance

In grades 3 through 8, WY-TOPP covers English language arts and math every year, with a writing task inside the ELA test in grades 5 and 7, plus science in grades 4 and 8. The tests are taken online and are computer adaptive: each question is chosen based on how the student did on the questions before it. Paper tests are available when the paper accommodation is written into a student's IEP. WY-TOPP is not timed, but each test is built to be finished in one sitting. The required summative tests are given at the end of the school year in a five-week window that ends on the Friday before Memorial Day; fall and winter interim tests are optional for districts.
